The Document Retrieval System allows individuals to view imaged documents on cases filed in Shawnee County that are available to the public. You will need a case number to retrieve documents. If you have a question about a case, you will need to either contact your attorney or the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Shawnee County. The Webmaster will not reply to any questions dealing with a specific case.
Instructions:
1. (Optional) From the Retrieval System home page, select a View type and an Index type (see descriptions below). Your selections will be saved for your next visit. However, these choices can be changed by you if you so desire.
2. Click on "Retrieve"
3. Enter a case number in the box in the upper left-hand frame of your browser window and click "Submit". If the case number is valid and there are images for that case, a list of either document types or dates (depending on your selections from step 1 above) will be displayed in the lower left-hand corner of your browser window. You may need to use the vertical scroll bar in the lower left-hand frame to see all the results. If the case is not in the Imaging system or there are no imaged documents for that case, an informational message will be displayed in the lower left-hand frame.
4.Click on the appropriate document type or date to view a list of documents for that type or date. (You may need to use the vertical scroll bar in the lower left-hand frame to view the list of the items returned.)
5. Click on the appropriate document in the lower left-hand frame. The first page of the document you selected will be displayed in the lower right-hand frame of your browser. For multiple page documents, use either the navigation frame or TMS navigation icons (depending on your selections from step 1 above) to move through the various pages.
6. (Optional) To view the documents for another case, repeat steps 3 through 5.
View TypesTMS Plug-in - replaces the navigation frame with a tool bar that allows for greater control over navigation, zooming, and printing. The Printer icon on the TMS toolbar allows you to print either all or selected pages of multiple page document. The TMS plug-in loads images using the TIFF file format, so retrieval time is slower than using the "Normal" viewing mode. Index Typesby Doc Type - returns a list of images grouped by the types of documents (petition, summons, etc.) for that case.
Notes
The electronic request for the following:
appear on the appearance docket, but not in each individually imaged case file. These electronic requests are imaged and electronically stored elsewhere. They are available upon request to the court.

- Accusations in contempt
- Garnishments
- Income withholding orders
- Alias summons
You must have your browser set to accept "cookies" in order to store your "View" and "Index" preferences for your next visit.
You can change your "View" and "Index" types from the Search Page by clicking the "home" link in the upper left-hand frame of your browser window.
