What is a Child in Need of Care case?
Child in need of care are cases where the child is in danger,has run away from home or is not attending school. All children in CINC cases are appointed a Guardian Ad Litem. (child’s representative) The case is set for a docket call on a Monday at 8:00 am approximately two (2) weeks from the date the case is filed. At this time it is determined if the parents would like an attorney appointed or if they will retain their own attorney. Before an attorney is appointed the parent must fill out a Financial Affidavit. The clerk will then set the case for a Pre-Trial. From that time on, the case is then set by the judge or his administrative assistant.
